Scholarship Requirements and instructions

SEAZSC's SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen’s Club allocates money raised at our annual Big Buck Contest Fundraiser, which is supported by local business sponsors, to provide funds for our Scholarship Program.

Each year the SEAZSC grants $2,000 in scholarship funds to deserving local students. The goal of the Sportsmen’s Club is to promote continuing education for local students from schools in Southeastern Arizona pursuing college degrees primarily in outdoor-related fields. Scholarships ranging from $500 to $1000 each will be awarded in two categories: the most qualified “graduating senior” applicants from any of our local high schools; and the most qualified “continuing college-level'' applicants beyond their freshman year in an outdoor-related field.

Interested students should be graduating seniors from one of the local high schools or returning college level students. Applicants do not need to be members of the South Eastern Arizona Sportsmen's Club. Members are preferred but not required. A 3.0 GPA or above is needed to maintain eligibility. Applicants are required to submit a 500 or less word essay on the following topic.

"Everyone understands how important water conservation is in Southern Arizona. One of the primary focuses of The Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen Club is bringing water to wildlife in the area. One can consider the challenges of wildlife in the face of water scarcity and human development. By exploring the impact of these projects on habitat preservation, migration patterns, and species diversity, how do water projects in Southern Arizona contribute to the survival and well-being of wildlife populations? What challenges do these projects face in maintaining ecological balance amidst increasing human demands for water resources?"

Application deadline is Friday May 1, 2026!

Guidelines for Scholarship Awards:

  1. Must be a graduating senior or returning college level student from any local school in Southeastern Arizona, including Safford, Thatcher, Ft. Thomas, Pima, Duncan, Willcox, or Morenci.

  3. Alternate consideration will be given to students in other disciplines depending on applicant interest (intent of career).
  4. Applicant must graduate with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher to remain eligible.
  5. Scholarships will be awarded after confirmation of enrollment has been received and verified. (A transcript and proof of registration needs to be submitted to the SEAZSC Scholarship Committee for verification no later than July 15th.)
  6. All applicants must submit a digital photo of themselves along with their application.

Scholarship applications can be obtained through the counselor's office at each high school or by clicking the SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION link below.
