SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen’s Club announced that the success from recent Big Buck Contest annual fundraisers, which are strongly supported by local business sponsors, will allow for the continuation of the scholarship program for 2023-2024 school year. Last year the SEAZSC granted $2,000 in scholarship funds to 2 deserving local students. The goal of the Sportsmen’s Club is to promote continuing education for local students in Southeastern Arizona pursuing college degrees primarily in outdoor-related fields. Scholarships will be awarded in two categories: to the most qualified “graduating senior” applicants from any of our local high schools; and to the most qualified “continuing college-level studies'' applicants beyond their freshman year in an outdoor-related field.
Students wishing to apply for these scholarships should visit their high school counselors for applications and more information. Interested students should be graduating seniors from one of the local high schools or returning college level students. Applicants do not need to be members of the Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen's Club. Members are preferred but not required. They must maintain a 3.0 GPA (B-) or above to maintain eligibility. Applicants must submit a 500 words or fewer essay using the following topic.
"Everyone understands how important water conservation is in Southern Arizona. One of South Eastern Arizona Sportsmen Club’s main focuses is bringing water to wildlife in the area. One can consider the challenges faced by wildlife in the face of water scarcity and human development. By exploring the impact of these projects on habitat preservation, migration patterns, and species diversity, how do water projects in Southern Arizona contribute to the survival and well-being of wildlife populations? What challenges do these projects face in maintaining ecological balance amidst increasing human demands for water resources?"
The deadline to qualify for either of the two types of scholarships is Friday May 3rd, 2024.
The Southeastern Arizona Sportsmen’s Club organization was created in 2003. The focus of SEAZSC is to improve wildlife habitat, and promote outdoor educational programs for our youth and families. The organization helps to enrich our youth’s lives by teaching life skills, citizenship, and preserving our wildlife heritage.
Application deadline is Thursday May 3, 2024!!!!!
